Das Menschenbild nach dem Johannesevangelium

In a new methodical and hermeneutical approach, Christina Urban focuses on the anthropology of the Gospel of John and on the relationship between anthropology, Christology and soteriology in the Fourth Gospel. She begins by discussing the few current concepts of Johannine anthropology and the methodical and hermeneutical handling of the anthropological assertions and terms in the Johannine texts. By developing a new semantic text concept which does however depend on historical criticism, she finds a way out of the current discussion between the anthropological and the Christological narrowness of Johannine theology and then rewords the basis of Johannine anthropology. In this way the Fourth Gospel develops an anthropological system, not only anthropological aspects or terms.
