Although the European Community has little authority in the field of the laws pertaining to higher education, more and more areas of these laws are being influenced by Community law. Josef Franz Lindner explores this development. In the general section of the book, he focuses on a systematic analysis of the various modalities with which Community law forms and influences the national laws pertaining to higher education. In the special section, the author studies selected branches of the German laws pertaining to higher education on the basis of the types of influence and the extent to which Community law has had an impact on them. He deals with the higher education system, the functions of institutions of higher education, the financing of higher education (including externally funded research), the organization of institutions of higher education, the status of the students as well as the law pertaining to the employees of institutions of higher education.
