Over the past decades, European competition law has experienced an unexpected boom. In Germany the vast majority of competition law that governs the behaviour of companies is of European origin and an independent substantive German competition law has survived only to a very limited extent. At the same time, European competition law is essentially case law, as is any competition law, and only very roughly predetermined by the legal norms of articles 101 and 102 TFEU (formerly articles 81 and 82 EC) and the Merger Control Regulation. It is for this reason that the decisions of the European courts and of the Commission are of huge importance. This casebook is the only one of its kind in the German language.
