Summary
This publication explores the possibilities for a harmonization of European insurance contract law. In order to examine the extent to which this is feasible, the authors examine the insurance contract law of the 15 member states of the European Union, of Switzerland, of the Union itself and of Australia. They provide detailed information on the various national solutions and also give a basis for a thorough comparative analysis. Whereas the identical structure of the reports given on each country facilitates the comparison of individual issues in the different national systems, the general analysis transcends a description of existing similarities and differences and tries to develop recommendations and models for a future harmonization.
