The discussion of Cullmann's view of New Testament theology shows that in spite of many objections »salvation history« can be used as a hermeneutically reflected category within New Testament studies. The consideration of Cullmann's intention could have prevented German-speaking theologians from establishing misleading alternatives like history and kerygma, history and eschatology.
