The internationally mandatory character of rules of German employment law is due to the lack of a clear statutory rule often in doubt. This uncertainty is amplified by the fact that the criteria to determine the internationally mandatory character of a rule are not unanimously shared. Carsten Müller develops such criteria in relation to employment law and applies them in a systematic review of German employment law.
