The »Konzepte der Gesellschaftstheorie« series is based on a series of conferences of the same name which has been organized once a year by Ingo Pies and Martin Leschke since 1994. What is special about this series is its focus on one subject. Each volume deals with only one author and explores the logic of his complete works in the social sciences.

For the first time, all volumes that deal with European thinkers are available as a set.
The »Konzepte der Gesellschaftstheorie" series is based on a series of conferences of the same name which has been organized once a year by Ingo Pies and Martin Leschke since 1994. These conferences are interdisciplinary, and they consist of five papers, each of them with two supplementary papers, all of which are documented in the series. In addition, the volumes in this series contain an introductory essay and a detailed afterword which provides a critical analysis of the individual articles.

What is special about this series is its focus on one subject. Each volume deals with only one author and explores the logic of his complete works in the social sciences. The volumes deal with the basic insights provided by the author concerned, shows how the content and the methodology of these insights are connected and the context in which the author developed them. The central question throughout is: What does the author's specific approach contribute to a better understanding of the functioning (and the feasibility of political control) of modern societies?

In this way, each volume provides a critical view of the mutifaceted works of leading figures in the social sciences and also contributes to reviving the discussion on comprehensive theoretical concepts. At a time in which the social sciences (in particular academic economics) are intent on dealing with diffuse problems, it is becoming increasingly important not to lose sight of the big picture. In this regard, the »Konzepte der Gesellschaftstheorie« series provides a counterpoint – for research and teaching.

For the first time, all volumes that deal with European thinkers are available as a set.
