In the wake of the financial crisis, the European legislator has sought to harmonize and strengthen the Member States' legal regimes on corporate sanctions. With the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), the legislator introduced financial sanctions related to the groupwide turnover which were inspired by the antitrust sanctioning regime. Christian Voigt analyzes the conceptual differences between the market abuse law and antitrust law.
