Max Weber's mature sociology took shape in two projects, complementary, but unfinished: »Economy and Society« and the studies on the »Economic Ethic of the Word Religions.« In these essays by Wolfgang Schluchter, the background and the systematic results of Weber's double project are scrutinized.
Max Weber's mature sociology took shape within two complementary but unfinished projects: »Economy and Society,« which he often called »my sociology,« and the studies on the »Economic Ethic of the Word Religions,« with which he contextualized his famous essay entitled »Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism.« In these essays by Wolfgang Schluchter, the background and the systematic results of Weber's dual project are scrutinized. Schluchter's essays originated as introductions to three volumes of the complete edition of Max Weber's writings, letters and lectures and are presented here again, in a slightly revised version. Read jointly, they provide an introduction to Weber's mature sociology.
