The theologian Johann Christoph Döderlein (1746-1792) brought to a close the establishment of Enlightenment theology at the formerly traditionally Lutheran theological faculty in Jena, which contributed to the modernisation of the university. Johanna Hilpert shows how his texts unravelling neologic theology lastingly shaped German-speaking Enlightenment theology.
