Manfred Jäger provides a theoretical analysis of the economic consequences of immigration. Assuming the existence of a competitive market for goods and full employment, and using this as his basis, the author extends his analysis to include the possibility of unemployment and imperfections in the goods market. He uses micro-based macroeconomic models that allow for equilibrium unemployment, monopolistic competition and monopsonistic settings, and shows how this accentuation can lead to new insights into the consequences of immigration.
