Summary
Violations of honor and other personal rights are typical Internet offences. Which national law applies to invasions of personal privacy on the Internet? Michael von Hinden examines the conflict of laws problem on the basis of the German International Law of Torts, which was revised recently. He shows that it is possible on the Internet as well to separate those connecting factors which are relevant from a conflict of laws perspective from an ostensible and mainly technical internationality. He also explains the limits to what each country can do on its own and pleads for the unification of the International Law of Torts, at least on a regional basis.
