Religionsbegriff und Gottesglaube

The concept of religion is seen as a challenge to European Christianity to establish a relationship between the form and the consequences of the belief in God on the one hand and society on the other hand. To the extent to which reason in general is not recognized in a civil society, faith becomes a matter for the individual alone. Dietrich Korsch traces this movement in history as it is exemplified in the history of the concept of religion and sees the public responsibility of the Christian faith in God as the hermeneutics of culture and religion. The author proposes a change in theology's self-conception in which the term »interpretation« would take on a key function.
