Cooperative decision-making methods and forms of action have a decisive influence on the public health system. What is the regulatory framework which can be applied to the old and the new forms of cooperation? How can their effects be judged? The authors of this volume explain and assess cooperation as an element of governance in the health system from various jurisprudential perspectives. They deal with forms of cooperation from the standpoint of basic constitutional rights and the principle of democracy, discuss them using a theory of standard setting approach and analyze them on the basis of institutional economics. In view of the common federal committee of physicians and health insurance institutions and in order to evaluate new forms of medical care, they have included the experiences of practitioners as well.
