Oliver Pilnei examines the main question in fundamental theology, which is the creation of faith and how it was dealt with by three authors who are central to »hermeneutic theology.« He begins by examining the origins of the hermeneutic programs in the writings of Bultmann, Fuchs and Ebeling as well as their decisive ontological and anthropological implications and then shows how each of the authors sees the origins of faith. In doing so, Oliver Pilnei reveals the various ways of understanding the creation of faith as well as the effectiveness of the individual hermeneutic concepts. He also provides insights into the history of theology which contribute to explaining the functional intention of »hermeneutic theology.« In conclusion, Oliver Pilnei makes a plea for dealing with the question of the creation of faith using the phenomenology of Christian faith as a guideline.
