This article deals with the ability of law professors to postulate, who are referred to as law teachers by the procedural codes and are treated in the same way as lawyers with regard to representation in court. The aim of this article is to answer the question of which specific requirements the procedural codes impose on teachers of law in order for them to be eligible for postulation. This is not only a question of law teachers and their position in relation to lawyers, but also of the significant relationship between legal science and legal practice as a whole, because the postulation capability of university teachers is decisively justified by the fact that a strong interaction between legal science research and teaching on the one hand and legal practice on the other is extremely beneficial to both sides.
