While Reformation theology relies solely on Scripture, Roman Catholic theology recognises tradition and Scripture as theological principles of knowledge. Elisabeth Maikranz shows the fundamental theological relevance of the concept of tradition for Protestant theology and for the first time comparatively explores the relationship between tradition and Scripture in the works of the Lutheran theologian Wolfhart Pannenberg and the Roman Catholic theologian Walter Kasper.
This work was awarded the Harding Meyer Ecumenical Prize 2024 and the First Prize of the Dr. Kurt Hellmich-Stiftung 2025.
