Open Access Agreement

with University of Vienna

The University of Vienna and the publisher Mohr Siebeck have concluded a forward-looking agreement for the years 2026 to 2028. Members of the University of Vienna can publish Open Access in the publisher’s journals as well as release Open Access monographs and edited volumes without additional costs.

The cooperation has been in effect since January 1, 2026, has a term of three years, and applies to all articles, book projects, and contributions accepted by the publisher during this period. The agreement makes an important contribution to the free accessibility of scholarly knowledge and strengthens the visibility and exchange of research results.

Funding is applied for directly with Mohr Siebeck; the publisher then forwards the applications to the University for review.

Further information and details on the application process are available directly from Mohr Siebeck.

Viktoria Lang-Steixner and Melanie Stummvoll – University of Vienna: “We are pleased to support members of the University of Vienna in publishing their work Open Access—and to now be able to offer an attractive option for monographs by our authors.”

Ove Kähler – Mohr Siebeck: “It is very important to us to open up new opportunities for research and publication together with the University of Vienna through our Read & Publish agreement. As part of our first R&P agreement, the University of Vienna is a pioneering partner for Mohr Siebeck in our commitment to excellent scholarship.”
