Summary
The second part of this annotated overview of homiletic discourse between 2016 and 2025 focuses on key topics and emphases, including the textual reference of sermons and their political and prophetic dimensions. In contrast to previous decades, however, these 'focus areas' are less prominent, if only in relation to the number of publications. Nevertheless, they contribute to accentuating the discourse. The individual topics reflect a debate climate that is inconsistent insofar as they are partly characterised by strong attempts at demarcation and seem to depart from the coherent view of homiletic approaches and perspectives that has been prevalent in recent years. The historical contributions to the theory and practice of preaching, which are strongly represented not only in terms of numbers but also in terms of content, are a helpful basis and resource for future homiletic discussions. They are indispensable for understanding fundamental questions of homiletics that recur from time to time in variations and analogous situations, and they provide the necessary depth and breadth in contemporary debates.
