Summary
»The Evangelical Church in Germany is the community of its Lutheran, Reformed, and United member churches« (Art. 1, para. 1, sentence 1 of the EKD Constitution). Its constitution therefore does not follow any of the regional church models, but offers an independent solution to the organizational problem. The structure of its governing bodies corresponds to the historically developed relationship between the EKD and its member churches.
