Summary
Markus Rüther's monograph leaves an ambivalent impression. On the one hand, it meets the highest standards of academic philosophy and systematizes a comprehensive English-language debate. On the other hand, it fails to do justice to its subject matter; the question of meaning is reduced to the question of the meaning in life, and the metaphysical dimension is neglected. The first section of the book review summarizes the book's contents. The second section formulates three objections.
