Summary
This article reviews publications on the work of the historian Reinhart Koselleck (1923-2006) that appeared around the centenary of his birth. Taking advantage of the temporal distance now available, it reflects on two interrelated issues: the remarkable persistence and breadth of Koselleck's reception far beyond the field of historical scholarship, and the implications of his theoretical interventions and »productive acts of destruction« for the practice of historical writing. By reassessing Koselleck's contributions in the light of the experiences of the Age of Extremes, the article explores the continuing relevance of his concepts for contemporary historiography.
