For decades Johann Gottfried Herder (1744 - 1803) was responsible for leading church activities. What was probably his last public speech as General Superintendent in the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar was dedicated to the investiture of Johann Gott lob Marezoll as Superintendent of Jena.
