Summary
SDG 17 calls - among several other targets - for the expansion of the global partnership for sustainable development to be complemented by partnerships with multiple stakeholders with the objective of mobilising and sharing knowledge, expertise, technologies and financial resources to effectively address the Sustainable Development Goals in all countries (especially in the Global South). The article discusses the requirements of international development law for global multi-stakeholder partnerships, particularly the principle of inclusiveness of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation. Based on the example of the UN Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection, the contribution illustrates how multi-stakeholder partnerships are used to advance specific targets of the SDGs, in this case 1.3., 3.8., 8.5. and 8.6.
