This article deals with the complex relationship between New Testament exegesis, namely theological exegesis, and »Religionsgeschichte« (history of religions, religious studies). Although historical and theological perspectives differ in various respects, both are in need of a hermeneutical access in order to attain a deeper understanding of early Christianity and its texts.
