The theological question of the image intensifies against the background of digitization and, in view of the virtual imagery, draws attention to the importance of the imagination. To come to an understanding of the latter appears fruitful for Protestant theology and the current discourse on digitization. In doing so, theology can draw on insights that are genuinely and fundamentally related to its self-understanding.
