1968 und die Praktische Theologie

During the intensive discussion of the relationship between »theory and practice«, the self-understanding of practical theology was heavily debated in the years around 1968. Johannes Greifenstein reconstructs the scientific-theoretical debates of this discipline classicaly conceived as a »theory of practice« with regard to function, object, and method: How is its function to be understood in practice when it appears that its change has been emphasized more than its description? How do we describe the object when the traditional duties of the parish priest take a back seat to the church's role in society? Which methods should take into account the new requirements that demand specialization and interdisciplinarity while simultaneously raising the problem of dilettantism?
