Agenda

Liturgical actions require a form of established routine which has been developed in the course of a long period of education, training and professional practice. Every action depends on the individual situation, but this is always against the backdrop of an orientation which is based on the experience of previous generations. In the Protestant church, the agenda's function is to help in organizing the church service and in contributing to a basic orientation as a kind of »good order.« In these studies, Michael Meyer-Blanck deals with a Protestant theory of agendas and with the Evangelischen Gottesdienstbuch (Protestant Service Book) of 1999 as well as with the various elements of the church service. In addition he addresses issues of how to hold the church service, including aesthetic, theatrical and pedagogical aspects.
