The circumstances surrounding the process of dying were taboo in Germany for a long time. They are often misrepresented in special debates on (assisted) suicide and living wills. In their interdisciplinary studies, the authors of this volume attempt to cover the everyday situation of dying and to integrate the special issues concerned into these studies. Their aim is to contribute to a renewed art of dying, an ars moriendi.
