Anwälte und ihre Geschichte

In 2006, the German Bar Association, together with the Verein Moderne Anwaltsgeschichte, created and funded its own research project whose goal was to explain the current legal profession on the basis of its roots. The large number of authors chose a completely new research approach, which resulted in a unique work. For the first time, this interdisciplinary cross-section, which covers all epochs, provides a comprehensive view of the German legal profession which in 1871 united to form a free association, the German Bar Association, whose agenda was the freedom of the legal profession. A total of 56 first-rate authors trace the history of the German legal profession, which is closely connected to the 140 years of the German Bar Association. They have not created a lexicon, but it is however a reader which reflects the unity and the diversity of this unusual profession.
