How strong is a verbal commitment? In order to answer this question, the value of the given word has to be measured against the different modes of revocation. In modern times particularly, consumer law has created various rights enabling one of the parties concerned to withdraw from a contract. Peter Mankowski deals with this subject, focusing on German law in particular, but also taking the CISG, the Lando principles and the UNIDROIT principles into consideration.
