This series, edited by the Ottobeuren Seminar on Economics, publishes those papers which are given at the seminars in Ottobeuren. The purpose of these seminars is to present new theoretical approaches as well as new empirical findings to a group of experts and to discuss the political-economic conclusions with them. This volume contains the papers and supplementary papers given at the 33rd Seminar on Economics on the subject of education from September 14 - 17, 2003. In them, the authors deal with current issues pertaining to education and economics, such as for example the determination and the assessment of the return on education, the influence of education qualifications on innovations, productivity growth, unemployment and distribution of income as well as specific problems related to policies regarding university education.
