In this volume, the authors focus on the controversial issue of whether the European fiscal union would be the solution for the current European Union crises that were caused by crises on the financial market but are presumably due to other, more deeply rooted causes. Will it be possible for the European Monetary Union to proceed according to its current concept, maintaining the sovereignty of each Member State without establishing a cross-governmental financial Member States' control that manages and imposes sanctions with regard to the adherence to regulations? Or will it be necessary to establish a fiscal union for a stable maintenance of order? Would this concept be feasible from a political, institutional and economic standpoint?
