International megatrends such as globalization and digitalization have resulted in companies coming more and more regularly into contact with foreign legal systems, law enforcement mechanisms and judicial processes. This was the subject of the Sixth Bitburger Discussions held in Munich last December. The conference's main focus was a comparison of German, continental European and American laws with special emphasis on private law enforcement. The second round of discussion compared the advantages and disadvantages of private arbitration on the one hand with the pros and cons of state jurisdiction on the other.
