Briefe aus der Frankfurter Zeit 1666-1686

As the founder of Pietism, Philipp Jakob Spener's letters are a very important source for research of the early Modern Age in the fields of church history, cultural history, and the history of ideas. The sixth volume of the »Frankfurter Briefe« contains 202 letters that reveal details of how several of Spener's friends in Frankfurt separated themselves from the established church and how he reacted to this. The political situation at the time is also clearly reflected in his views on the growing influence France had on German regions west of the Rhine, and particularly Alsace.
