Summary
The correspondence between Bultmann and Gogarten, two main German representatives of dialectical theology, reflects the separation of this theological movement from theological liberalism as well as the development of and the division in dialectical theology in the first half of the 20th century. Bultmann and Gogarten discuss the relationship between history and word, the preaching of the gospel and faith. Their goal was to integrate historical criticism into a hermeneutical understanding of the New Testament.
