Karl Friedrich Ulrichs studies the expression »pistis Christou«, which is used eight times in Pauline justification contexts, and shows how the notorious restriction to the alternatives of either the subjective or the objective genitive can be overcome in the philological debate.
Karl Friedrich Ulrichs studies the expression »pistis Christou«, which is used eight times in Pauline justification contexts, and shows how the notorious restriction to the alternatives of either the subjective or the objective genitive can be overcome in the philological debate. He presents the arguments which have been offered by researchers up to now, puts these into a system, evaluates them and shows the problem in each of the passages in which the expression is used. The author develops a discourse between the disparate continental European and Anglo-Saxon research on this significant theological soteriological concept, thus expanding the discussion surrounding the new perspective on Paul. From a methodological point of view, this is a study based on the criteria of classical Greek philology which uses the principle of maximal redundancy.
