Das Absolute und der Begriff

Why is it that theists and atheists alike believe to have found an ally in Hegel? Was it Hegel's intention to pay philosophical tribute to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity with his assertion that logic »is the exposition of God (…) in his eternal essence«, or did he instead wish to deal with a grotesque self-apotheosis of the human spirit? Ermylos Plevrakis attempts to reflect on all those parts of The Science of Logic featuring the terms 'God' or 'the Absolute', and shows that this work is capable of developing autonomously conceptions of absoluteness which logically underlie other metaphysical assertions. Accordingly, Logic does not render any further theism or atheism, but rather a foundational research on concepts preceding this dilemma, and finally leads not to ontotheology, but to the exposition of its own method: the epistemology of conceptual thinking.
