For an insolvent debtor, an inheritance is often the only notable source available to pay off his creditors. Yet German insolvency legislation allows a debtor to waive a succession to the detriment of his creditors. Friederike Dorn critically examines this rule from a comparative perspective and develops a concrete reform proposal.
