Das internationale Privatrecht von Peru

Martin Söhngen provides a systematic and comprehensive study of Peruvian international private law. Real 'field research' permitted him to analyze approx. 50 decisions, several of which have not been available up to now. He deals with conflict of laws provisions and the recognition of foreign judgments. The author shows the considerable extent to which there are differences between actual case law and the civil code. The numerous international treaties ratified by Peru have no significance in court, and the courts only apply foreign law that has been provided by the litigants. In the end, the author confirms reciprocity pursuant to German standards for the recognition of foreign judgments.
