»The new edition of Matthew might have benefited from the fact that it did not have to be completed in the same way as that of Mark. General remarks did not need to be added to it. Only the following should be said: A handbook which, according to its conception, excludes the use of annotations and prescribes the inclusion of the entire material to be included in the explanation itself, can only rely on a smooth style in the second place (see Boehmer Die Studierstube 1926 p. 173). I hope, however, to have made an effort in this direction as well.«
