Das Neue Testament und seine Welt

This book evolved from courses offered in the former School of Theology at the University of Erlangen. This is not an introduction to the New Testament; it deals primarily with the world in which the people of the New Testament lived and worked. For this reason, Peter Pilhofer has chosen a historical structure for his book and describes the general historical conditions as well as the local and regional conditions of each era. The Jewish groups in Palestine and Judaism in the diaspora are also discussed. Pilhofer traces the spread of Christianity from region to region and from city to city. Illustrations and maps round out the description and provide a graphic impression of the early Christians' world.
