Das Prinzip der Selbstverantwortung

Whether it's the financial crisis, European approximation of laws, consumer protection or the consequences of a divorce: Individual responsibility, the counterpart of individual freedom, is a fundamental principle of our (private) legal order. In general however it receives little attention. The reason for this may be that most people prefer to emphasize the sweet rather than the bitter, even if both are inextricably linked. Another reason could be (as v. Hayek presumed) that the appreciation of freedom has decreased.
