In this work, Andreas Grünschloß presents a comparative study in interreligious hermeneutics from an historical and systematic perspective. Are there, apart from syncretism, adaption or confrontation, similar or common structures for determining the relationship of religions to one another? Using historical case studies in early Islam, the Bhagavad Gita and Pali Buddhism, and giving a typological and phenomenological analysis of interreligious hermeneutics, the author shows the way towards a new heuristic paradigm, which transcends the common tripartite scheme of exclusivism, inclusivism and pluralism.
