Summary
The impact of English deism in Germany is usually seen as the starting point of the transformation of German »orthodox« Protestant theology into »enlightened« Protestant theology. Christopher Voigt comes to a different conclusion by analyzing the reception of English deism in reviews in German periodicals in the 18th century and in German handbooks between 1750 and 1770.
