Feras Gisawi analyzes German post-medieval natural law discourse on the law of damages, uncovering those arguments which theoretically overlaid and stabilized the principle of full compensation. In doing so, he also addresses the question whether and to what extent such assessments shaped the development of German law up until the enactment of the Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch (BGB – German Civil Code).
