What do people seek inside churches? Katrin Schindehütte goes in search of what makes these spaces so fascinating and arrives on location for a dogmatic determination. In light of the current spatial debate, she attempts to glean meaning from the question of the meaningfulness of church space in the protestant-theological understanding of it. Its overall structure is queried and juxtaposed with the competing antique idea of an »absolute space« and the newer one of »relative space conceptions«. In the process, the rediscovery of church space is also considered. For where otherwise should religious insight best come to full fruition if not in a place where the religious dimension of the space has been elevated to its own level in a special way?
