Der liberale Liberalismus

The inflation of liberalisms has created the impression that the term 'liberalism' has lost its entire intrinsic content. Wolfgang Kersting advocates the theory that there is a basic liberalism. Its systematic profile, however, has been blurred by undisciplined developments which are slaves of the Zeitgeist and a welfarism which is a slave of the state and has been rendered unrecognizable by an extensive ethical rationalization which takes care of all the problems of civilization. In order to make the contours of liberalism visible once again, it is necessary to delimit its boundaries in relation to egalitarianism and libertarianism as well as to economism, which denies the moral content of liberalism, and to neutralism, which paralyzes the moral resistance of liberalism.
