How does law perceive the individual and form its own picture of »reality«? The legal system can hardly escape identity-political discourses and their linguistic emanations. This leads to the question of the achievements and limitations of legal conceptualizations. On the basis of a sociologically inspired theory of classifications, Judith Froese analyzes the extent to which law captures the human being categorically and in relation to groups.
