Using Paul's letter to the Philippians as an example, this volume explores the complex philological and conceptual interaction between Paul and the intellectual and social traditions of the Hellenistic-Roman world. The essays reflect the wealth of these connections and deal, inter alia, with aspects pertaining to philosophy and ethics, social history and legal history, rhetoric and communication strategy.
